After class, Jill, Cayenne, Emma and Justina took me out for a drink. Actually, students stayed and worked on their projects for almost a good 30 minutes after class ended. But around 9:30, the five of us headed out to a place called the "Mellow Mushroom." Had a beer there, got some garlic bread, and saw a ton of fraternity/sorority folks all dressed up. Bandanas and leather and chaps the likes of which I had never encountered before – gullible me thought that this was a typical Tuscaloosa evening. But everyone was playing dress-up. Very weird.
Our conversation started to get going when, all of a sudden, we realized that the "Mellow Mushroom" stopped serving us booze! They shut down at 10 PM! So – we paid our bill and went in search of another place. Chukker’s (I think that’s what it was called) had some bands, so we opted out. We stopped at another place (Egger’s? I can’t remember the name). By the time we arrived there, everyone was already winding down and we decided on an early night. Part of me is very tired from this week (and I’ve still got more work to do tomorrow); many of the students in the Flash class are instructors themselves, and just got through with Midterms last week. Everyone’s pretty stretched here.
