Chinese Scientists Construct Boxing Robot

Oddly, there’s a tie in here with poetry.

Matt and I talked yesterday, and our writing plans have fallen in light of the holidays. But, undaunted, we’re looking to regroup and continue the poem-a-day exercise in January. This time, we’re going to base our content on interesting news articles, an exercise that our teacher David Citino used to use in his writing workshops. Matt and I are going to switch off, every other day. One of us will find an article for us both to write on, and we go from there.

The cool thing about these assignments is that they take a lot of the pressure off. Instead of staring at a blank page, the news article gives you your boundaries. Of course, we won’t have to actually summarize the articles in our poems (although I tend to do that) – the news tidbits are more launching pads, places to begin.

This should be fun.
