Nick Drake, Revisited

Meh. The documentary was alright. Our concensus was that the filmmakers did a good job with what little information they had. There were a few moments that were, in my opinion, spectacular… but there were equally the same number of times when the film just got a bit too artsy and touchy-feely for my liking.

Compare to other documentaries, this one seemed cut short – as if there weren’t enough people interviewed, or enough digging done to reveal more of Drake’s life. Then again, he seemed to be terribly reclusive and maybe there weren’t that many people who knew him at all.

At any rate, A Skin Too Few would be interesting to even the passing Nick Drake fan. But don’t expect too much out of it. And for those who don’t know his work (like me, I’m trying to listen to more) do yourself a favor and pick up one of his albums. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
