Around 5:00 PM, I stepped out for some coffee. I figured I’d hit the Gallery Cafe, which is literally right up the street from my house. I have one of their old menus around here, and I checked to make sure they were open. Sundays, 8 AM – 6 PM. When I got to the door… well, when I got to the locked door, I saw a sign advertising their new hours.
So – I headed up North Avenue, looking for another place. There’s a nearby Internet cafe called "Wireless," but they had closed down at some point without my knowing. Scratch that.
When I walked out, I left my door open – just the screen door, unlocked. Felt like the right thing to do. Before I know it, I’m walking down the street farther than I had intended, slightly worried about my apartment. I ended up venturing much farther than I anticipated. On looking back, I’m glad I walked a bit around the neighborhood today.
I mentioned I haven’t showered right? Hair is back in a semi-ponytail. I have a small winter hat on, just to keep my hair hidden from the rest of the world. I’m a bit grizzly from not shaving and as I walk down the street, everyone that passes by me is dressed for a spring day. I feel a bit conspicuous for walking around so unkempt… but after thinking about it, I liked it. There’s something to be said about being grimy and out in public.
