I lucked into this movie, going into it on the recommendation of a friend of a friend of a friend. I heard about Sans Soleil from Justin, who had heard about it from from Dave, who had heard about it from Jim, his friend who works at the Siskel Theater.
None of us had any sort of description to go on, save that it was very visual and there was no good way to describe it. What I found fascinating was that everyone involved trusted the opinion and taste of their friends, and decided to bet on that trust.
Justin showed up at work, and along with Emma, the three of us grabbed a quick meal at Potbelly’s. We met up with Dave at the Siskel and hung around the lobby a while, contemplating getting drinks (you can buy beer and wine here, as easily as you can buy popcorn). Gretchen and Rob were slated to join us, but arrived a few minutes after the film started.

I’m a huge fan of John Irving, and I loved Garp (both the book and the movie). There are always some killer posters on the walls here.
