Looks like my dance card on Friday is going to be pretty packed. I’m hanging out with Chris and his friends after work, and we’re all heading to some gallery (downtown) where a friend of his roommate is having a show. Should be a lot of fun, as I don’t know where I’m going or what to expect.
I found out from Chelsea that my friend Matt is involved with a new gallery called Lobby Gallery. I think he’s serving as “Artistic Director” there. This should be very cool, since they’re opening their doors for the first time, ever, tomorrow.
Ah damn. I’ve been remiss and out of contact with the Robinsons for a good long while. It’s one of those situations where it’s been so long since I’ve seen them, I almost don’t want to see them because I’m embarassed by how long it’s been since I’ve seen them. Does that make any sense?
Of course, I’m stopping by tomorrow. It’ll be good to see Matt again, and this is truly an opening in every sense of the word.
Also, I got an email from Rob a day or two ago about The Art of Cultural Interference, a showing at 1/Quarterly that’s part of Version>04: invisibleNetworks. This will be a collection of various groups, including You Are Beautiful. In fact, part of what’s going on here will possibly involve elements of their last show (You Are * I Am). I’m very partial to this project, partly because I really like the message, and partly because I’ve been tracking these stickers ever since I first saw one, back in 2002.
