Capturing the Friedmans
After dinner, Justin and I met up with Chris, Eric and Will. We decided to rent a movie, bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Red and hung out at Justin’s house.

Justin shows off some of the books he purchased at Quimby’s earlier, and breaks out the Chris Ware.
Capturing the Friedmans. Holy god, what an incredible documentary.
What a dizzying, horrible, fascinating, confusing film. We had some really interesting discussions afterwards, and I’m still not sure what to think. There are some incredible, intimate, private moments revealed in this thing. And even though I write about my life a fair amount in a public sphere, the sort of personal revelation/confessions I saw in this thing made my jaw drop.
By the end of the night, I started nodding off some, even though I found all the DVD extra footage to be really captivating. We all realized it was 1:30AM, and everyone sort of dispersed at that point. Out of all the DVD’s I’ve seen in my life, this one pretty much wins as far as having excellent “extras,” hands down.
If you haven’t seen this yet, rent it. And when you get done, I’m curious what you think of it all.
