I spent some time this morning learning about LocalConnection, and was able to get two different .swf files to talk to one another. To make the whole audio experience less jarring, my Flash navigation now knows whether or not someone has triggered the audioplayer in the right module.
If the audio is playing, any link from the Flash navigation will open up in a new window. But if there’s no audio playing, the links from the Flash nav open in the same window.
