Happy Birthday Matt!

Justin and I hopped a cab over to Matt’s neck of the woods (a bit farther north than we normally travel). The cab driver dropped us off at the wrong location, and we ended up hiking a bit to get where we needed to go.

By the time we showed up, it was kind of late. There was a small gathering of folks inside, and I tried as best as I could to remember names. There were a few guys who I met when Matt gave us a tour of Intelligentsia, many months back.

Argh. I’ve got tons of pics from that day (along with movies and such from Justin and Ben). I need to go back and update that as well.

This is Brad – found out he and his girlfriend were both from Indianapolis, and we bonded about that. He does a lot of video work, and we talked a lot about grants and writing. He’s been doing more fiction stuff lately, and I talked at length about MFA programs and the like.

The birthday boy, relaxing with a beer. The three of us talked video games at great length. A bit earlier, I was out on the balcony, talking with folks. Justin has made the suggestion that I not try to document so much, so I left my camera on a couch for the first half of the night.

But… old habits die hard. After hanging out in the office, I wanted at least to grab a few shots.

Ok, this is pretty funny. I found a book that I thought Matt would like a few days ago, at Quimby’s. Turns out… Melissa and I got him the same thing!

In her words: “Great minds think alike.”

Fast forward a bit later, and this is what happens at any good party: there’s a dance-off.

I had never seen Dance Dance Revolution before, but had heard plenty about it. Looks like a totally fun game, even for someone like me who doesn’t like dancing.

Melissa, showing off the skillz.

Matt, showing off the laser-beam focus.
