Cafe Iberico

Mmmm. Justin’s folks are in town, and a bunch of us headed out to Cafe Iberico for an indulgent tapas meal. Two pitchers of sangria (one red, one white) and a boatload of food. Good stuff. This is my plate, right before we fall to eating (grilled octopus, olives, part of a Spanish omelet and patatas ali-oli (red potatoes with garlic mayonnaise sauce).

Honestly, I wish I had two hearts so I could eat more of these freaking potatoes.

Mark, Maureen and Justin. I should note that Justin’s mom is the creator of the Gorey Gourds, and I was lucky enough to receive my own Felix the Cat gourd.

Dave, Stu and Juliet. There was talk from Stu and Juliet about travelling to India this winter, and you should have seen Justin’s eyes light up.

He travelled to India a few years back, and he’s been itching to return ever since. I mentioned before that he speaks Hindi incredibly well, and is very versed in Indian culture. Given how much he’s worked in the past few years, I think it high time he take a long-needed vacation, and return to a place that makes him so incredibly happy. I could think of no better way for him to recharge himself, physically, emotionally, spiritually.

He was trying to keep his excitement down, as these were somewhat tentative plans that were kicked around tonight on a whim. But given how adventurous Stu and Juliet are, it seems a strong possibility. You really should have seen Justin’s face change when the topic of India came up.

Tonight, we proved yet again that our Iberico-ordering-ratio theory holds. The rule of thumb is: three dishes for every two people.

We go so far as to jot down our orders collectively, to make sure no one accidentally doubles up, and to ensure the most variety. We’ve got eating at this place down to a freaking science.

Ahhh Iberico. A great place to bring friends and out-of-towners.
