Bubbles

Ji Lee (who I know virtually nothing about) posted up a tremendous amount of blank text bubbles on posters and the like. Then, he went back and photographed what people had written.

I totally dig this project, as it fits so closely with my own bent towards repetition and variation. I love how inviting the bubbles are, how they almost make the vandalizing acceptable. Empty, they seem incomplete, waiting for someone to complete the task, to finish it.

I like seeing all the different backgrounds; but more than that, I like seeing what everyone decided to declare to the world. While you can’t see the physical person behind the statement, the statements give you a strong sense of the mind behind the thought.
