Over the weekend, Matt was at a bachelor party and our recent Arby’s Challenge came up in conversation.
During this conversation, a new bet rose up. Here’s the challenge: You have a full work day to complete this task, 9 AM – 5:00 PM. In that time, you must eat one of every item from the vending machine at your workplace.
Immediately in the office, some folks declared it impossible and some claimed that it was definitely do-able. This makes for a strong bet, I think – that thin line of what some believe possible, the task just on the cusp of the attainable.
With so many differing opinions on the matter, I went down to the kitchen area and took a snapshot of all the contents inside our vending machine:

Sure does look like a lot. But… if you had the entire work day?
Breaking it down, there are a total of 35 items in this guy (group concensus was that gum doesn’t count in this particular challenge). Over the course of a regular 8-hour work day, this averages to about 4.375 items that need to be eaten, each hour. That means one item every 13.7 minutes.
I’m torn as to how possible this particular bet is to complete. It seems easy, and you’d have the whole day… but MAN is that a lot of junk food.
To make matters worse, in our vending machine we have a few “big” items. Namely – the popcorn on the 4th row, and the ramen noodles and oatmeal on the bottom row.
If anyone is crazy enough to give this a go (Bryan was talking like he could do it), I’ll make sure to document the whole thing.
