X-Men 3: Pre-Screening

Thanks to Jeanine at Q101, I was able to score a few tickets to the pre-screening of X-Men 3. Liz and I got there right at about 6:15 (the movie started at 7). By then, we were already near the end of the line, if you can believe that.

We were told to get there early, and I’m fairly sure that if we showed up 20 or 25 minutes later… it would have been iffy, as to whether or not we would be able to get in.

Overall, it was a pretty fun movie. It’s an action movie, so whaddya gonna do? I really did dislike the way things conveniently wrap-up at the end, but that’s to be expected I guess.

I was somewhat worried about people talking through the movie. This was, after all, a big mix of folks – lots of radio listeners and x-men fans. In the theater, I noticed that the guy sitting next to us was wearing an X-Men t-shirt. An old one.

I remember thinking to myself: great, we’re sitting next to some total x-men fanboy.

But then, thinking about the bad experiences I’ve had where people have been talking during movies in theaters… I was suddenly happy to be sitting next to this guy. Given his shirt, I’m guessing he was way more into this movie than me. And if anyone around us talked… he’d be the first one on his feet, demanding total silence. :)

Good movie, great effects. Lots of pretty funny moments, as well. Liz pointed out to me the role of “reversals” in the movie – which I didn’t fully pick up on, until she pointed that out after the fact.

All in all a fun time. Towards the end, I did find myself trying to apply “the Ten Minute Rule” and turn this thing into an art film.
