Date Night

A few days ago, we decided that tonight – we’d stay in and cook. Or, more accurately, we’d stay in and Liz would cook.

In addition to trying out a recpie for Cornish Hens (first time), Liz also made some potato pies as well as a light strawberry cheesecake. I swear to you – for like 2, 3 hours she was some kind of machine.

Some of the potato pies, getting ready for the oven.

During this time, I helped out by hanging out in the living room and watching Baxter scamper around. In the beginning, when I couldn’t help much, I just sort of plopped on the couch and read. A bit later, I got to work and helped out some (mostly, doing all the dishes that piled up).

Candle display. This was absolutely gorgeous – and one of the coolest effects was the reflection of the voties in the mirror (to say nothing of the floating candles in the water).

A little wine, and we had a great setting for our date night. The cornish hens had a light honey and poppyseed glaze, and we also had some green beans in addition to the potato pie. All told, we didn’t sit down to eat until pretty late (maybe 10:30 or so), but that was due do the late start we had in the afternoon.

Man oh man, all this good food. How’d I get so lucky?
