The Matador

Last night, I started watching The Matador, and ended up getting sucked into it.

You know the weird thing? I saw the trailer for this movie on TV months and months ago, and I thought it was terrible. The trailer, that is. After seeing it, I thought to myself: whoever made that trailer needs to be fired. For some reason, it seemed like there was more to be had from the movie underneath the trailer – but it just didn’t come across.

Pierce Brosnan’s character is a really interesting one, and he does a pretty great job. I kept watching, trying to figure out when Brosnan’s character was going to go psychotic, when he was lying or being sincere, when he was going to cross the line in terms of his interactions with other people.

It’s really more of a dark comedy, I guess. I’m glad I got to see it, as I haven’t really seen a movie that showed off Brosnan’s acting abilities until now.
