A Mac for Me: Full Circle

Well, ever since I made the switch over from PC to Mac, I’ve been waiting to make the same change at work. Everyone else on the design side is on a Mac, and I’ve been overdue for a new computer for some time now.

I’ve been a PC user for forever. At work, I’ve had the same PC for several years now – and it’s mostly due to my not pushing for a faster/better computer. The PC I had was a glorified Sales computer, that was given to me shortly after I was hired on full time. From there, I added in a CD burner, new hard drive, more memory, a better video card… but at the end of the day, it was a machine that just wasn’t cutting the mustard.

Today, my new iMac arrives at work. Intel, baby. Yeah!

I’m excited to have a zippier machine to play with, and one that will hopefully help me be more efficient on the work front. I know that there are any number of shortcuts and timesavers that I’ve yet to fully explore – and that I’ll be able to pick up through Ben and Justin, simply by being on a Mac at work.

Oh, and for any of you readers that have dipped into the distant past on here… you may remember my first days here at Emmis. Back during that time, when I was still a lowly freelancer hired on to help with the migration… there wasn’t an extra computer to be had. Justin and Ben dug around, found an old Mac (with a floral pattern) tucked inside the radio station’s pize closet. THAT was my first ever machine.

It began with a Mac. And today, I leave my old PC for a new Mac.

Circle of life.
