Grid Wars 2

Stop what you’re doing. Stop it now, and go download this game. Go do it, and do it right freaking now.

I’ve long been a fan of Robotron: 2084. But man… I’ve found the heir to the throne. And thy name is Grid Wars 2.

It’s been a long time, a LONG time since a video game has captured my attention in such a way. Remember Tetris, when it first appeared on the scene? And how freaked out everyone was, how it sort of just took over, for a little while? This game, Grid Wars 2. This is another Tetris.

I’ll spare you the details of it all, suffice it to say that I think it’s a crapton of fun. If you have something important to do, or a lot of work to get done… maybe you should just avoid this until you have a little more free time. Otherwise… download the game (it’s free), and give it a whirl.

It’s available for both Mac and PC’s, and runs pretty well on both platforms (even on a slower, older PC). I’d recommend adjusting the controls so that you play with the keyboard, instead of the mouse. There’s a slight bit of setup involved, and you might have to tweak the settings if your machine is older/slower… but this game is worth it. I swear to you – download this guy, and give it a whirl. It doesn’t disappoint.

I can’t say enough good things about this game. Lately, when I close my eyes… I tend to see all the elements of the game (this ships and shapes), floating around, doing their little patterns. Whether this is a good or bad thing, I’ll let you decipher it.

I don’t do this often, but I’m making a Star Trek reference. Anyone here a fan of STTNG? If so, perhaps you’ll remember an episode called The Game. Every time I play Grid Wars 2, I think of this episode.

If you know the reference, enough said. Now go play.

Thanks to Stickman for the link.
