Behind the Economics

Last week, Ned came in to our area and asked for some volunteers to do voice work. Normally, I shy away at such a thing, but I wanted to help out since Ned’s been helping *us* out so much (with sound effects and the like).

So, me, Jane, Chris and Ben all went into his studio to do some recording.

I should mention here that, each time I do voice work… I get incredibly self-conscious. I’m not used to yelling or raising my voice, and more often than not… doing voice work (particularly if it’s for Q101) requires a lot of volume. I tend to have a hard time with it, I get flustered, I get sweaty. But all in all, it’s pretty fun (even if I do get super nervous about the whole thing).

Ned had us doing a bunch of weird lines for some Milton Friedman spoof. I really wasn’t sure what I was saying half the time, and to be honest… a lot of the references went over my head. Still, since it involved me and Jane and Ben and Chris, I find this whole bit pretty funny.

One of these days, I’ll have to take a camera into the room, and photograph/record the process. I think that would be a pretty funny and interesting post, showing what happens behind the scenes.

Here’s the audio thatt Ned sent us today, of the final clip. I’ll post the voices/credits below, farther down the page.
