Went out today, after the scooter transportation, and did a bit of clothes shopping. Ever since Liz and I started up South Beach again (back in May), I’ve been losing weight pretty steadily.
My clothes haven’t really been fitting very well for some months now. I’ve always purchased pretty baggy stuff, but lately my pants don’t fit me at all. Even with a belt on, they’ve been a bit loose.
So, today I went out (I really dislike shopping) and finally bought some new pants. Seven new pairs, to be exact. And a few sweater things.
It’s a weird feeling for me, to be shifting into a whole new “set” of clothes. I keep thinking I need to hold on to my old jeans, for some reason. I’m going to donate them, but it feels like I should be hanging on to them.
I should note that on the diet, I’ve lost about 30 pounds or so. And I’m now back to a 32 waist ((I was wearing 36′s), which is about where I was when I first arrived in Chicago. Crazy!
Currently, I’m pretty much “off” the South Beach diet: I’m not watching what I eat that much, at least during lunch. We still make healthy dinners, but my lunches… I get a little lazy. If I start to see significant weight gain, I’ll probably get a bit more disciplined about my meals again.
As with any diet, losing the weight isn’t the hard part – it’s keeping the weight off. So far, I’m less about 30 pounds; I guess we’ll see how long I can keep that off.
