There’s this one house, on our block (on the corner of Washtenaw and Logan Boulevard). And all throughout the holidays, they’ve thrown up holiday lights all over their house. And when I mean all over, I’m talking literally… ALL OVER.
While I may have celebrated the holiday seasons in the past, I now see that all my prior attempts have been half-assed attempts. Observe.

I’ve been remiss about photographing the building, and finally decided to get some shots this evening… before they took everything down. This is the view from the front of the house, looking in.

Front yard, reindeers.

Along the side, a few balls of light and a little tower.

Near the back yard, more animals, a snow globe, and an actual, functioning ferris-wheel of light.

Another view of the rear, slightly to the right of the ferris-wheel.

Side view, with Mr. and Mrs. Claus guarding the doorway. There was music piped out of some speakers on this side.

View from the side. All through these past few weeks, there have always been other folks driving up, stopping, and people taking photographs. Tonight, as I took my own pictures, the people I saw were all smiles and… like me, in a great deal of awe. Partly at how much power it must take to keep this thing lit… and partly at the dedication it must have taken, to set this all up in the first place.
Happy holidays, everyone!

i’ve actually seen one of those ferris wheel things for sale and I joked to D that i wanted one for our front lawn, to keep it up all year long. and i was only half-kidding….;)
Putting something like that in your lawn is just trouble, if you ask me. You’re just tempting all the idiots out there to come into your lawn area, and try to “ride” the Ferris Wheel. That said, if it weren’t for the gate at this house… I would have gone into their lawn area, and tried to ride the Ferris Wheel.
