Around 4:45PM, I got a call from Liz saying that she had found a pretty fantastic desk in the alley, behind our apartment. The trouble was – it was too heavy for her to move by herself. She wanted to wait for me, but didn’t want to leave the desk for fear someone else would come by and snatch it up.
So I promised to leave work a bit early, and rushed home. She ended up sitting out there for a good while (45 minutes? almost an hour?) before I showed up, as I took a cab and traffic was pretty terrible.
Here’s what I saw, when I rounded the corner and walked into the alley.
Spotted this on a fence, as we were walking the desk down the alleyway.
We got the desk up to our place, and it’s sitting in the dining room. The desk could use a bit of work, but I’m not sure if Liz is going to try to refinish it… or just clean it up a bit. She can work wonders, so it’ll be interesting to see if she tackles this as another refinishing project.
Oh my. That desk looks awesome, you guys! Those nice mid-c tapered legs and all. I can’t wait to see what you do with this, Liz! what a score!
