Upgrading to Movable Type 4.2 Beta

It’s been a little over a year now that I decided to recode/import all my entries, and switch over to Movable Type. And quite honestly… I coudn’t be happier.

I love that comments exist now, and that there are so many options/plugins for me to use. Compared to what I was doing before (updating a site daily, with a home-rolled solution), it’s made posting and upkeep a ton easier.

There are a ton of side projects left to do, and a lot of clean-up work to do in old posts. But for the most part, I’m pretty pleased. This place feels to me like one gigantic house – full with things that need fixing/tweaking. And I’m convinced this place is due for a total redesign.

Today, I upgraded to MT 4.2. It’s a beta, but the improvments listed were just too good to pass up. I’ve just tried out the search feature, and it’s a TON better.

Recently, I switched to using Google as a means to search the blog. I’d use site:avoision.com Rodan, instead of the built-in MT search option.

Now though… the MT search is blazingly fast, compared to what it was. In the notes on MT’s site, they used the term “100 times faster.” And it honestly does feel like it. By all means, feel free to give it a whirl…
