Halloween Pub Crawl (Sorta)

From last Friday (Halloween) – To celebrate All Hallow’s Eve, Liz and I had plans to hang out with Jake and Jessy. There was some sort of pub crawl that Jessy heard about, which involved $20, all-you-can-drink-beer, and a trolly service that took you from bar to bar.

Liz, dressed up in her Tucan outfit.

Let me do a quick summary – this was the SECOND bar we went to. Liz and I went to the first (a bar near the DePaul campus) and it was packed to the gills. So much so that all we saw was the humongo line around the corner.

Luckily, right as we called Jake, they happened to be driving by. So in a mad scramble, Liz and I more or less dove into the car (driven by a friend named Suzannah). We were supposed to meet up with a much larger group, and decided to try our luck at the next bar, the second one on the list.

This photo (above) was at the second location. We were able to get in, but were unable to purchase any “tickets” for the event… which would have allowed us to drink and ride the trolley.

Anoter shot of the interior. We debated ordering drinks, and just decided to out and out ditch. It was way crowded, impossible to move/hear, and the likelihood that things would worsen seemed high. Jake and I stole some pizza on our way out.

It may be hard to see, but I just noticed a couple dressed as Adam and Eve, on the far right.

After much wandering about, we found ourselves fairly close to Rose’s Lounge. Talk about going from total crowds to a very subdued evening. At that point, all we were really interested was in getting a beer… and so we found ourselves literally doubling the number of patrons inside as we walked in.

Above, it’s Jessy (dressed as the Devil), and Jake (dressed as a traveller – his backpack is out of view).

We hung out at Rose’s for a good while. And after all the noise and people, being inside here was a really welcome, relaxed change. At one point near the tail end of the evening, a random guy came over to tell us a story about how he once met Elvis, when he was just a kid… and how the King had ruffled his hair. Rose’s is a pretty fun dive bar.

On our way home, I wanted to stop off for some late night food. At a taco joint nearby, while waiting for our order… the guy behind the counter asked if he could get his photo taken with me.

That right there? I think it’s the sign of a good costume, when people photograph you. And doubly so when strangers want their photos taken with you.

I agreed, and asked that he take a shot of me and Liz together.

The zombie and the Tucan… a match made in heaven. Ours is an undead, avian kind of love.

Me about to nibble on Tony’s face.

Super gross close-up shot of me, with half of my face/makeup removed. The shower and bathtub were a TOTAL mess.
