First Snow in Chicago + First Snow Flash Project

Though it wasn’t a ton, yesterday marked the first official snow we’ve had here in Chicago. There have been a few days prior to now where I saw snowflakes, but yesterday was the first time it actually accumulated on the ground.

In light of this, it seems fitting to re-post my First Snow project. As a quick synopsis, it’s a Flash-based visualization of a poem I wrote, using images from Flickr.

Though I created it over a year ago, the random Flickr images that are pulled are grabbed based on recency. I’m searching for a few specific keywords (snow, snowflake, etc), but I’m sorting the images based on the most recent ones. So… as more and more people post snow-related photos, the First Snow poem should convey that, the more and more we slide into Winter.
