Liz and I met up with Jake and Jessy at Carol’s Pub, one of the few Chicago drinking establishments that apparently stays open until 4AM. Their website is currently under construction, but if you’re interested… Carol’s is located at 4659 North Clark (about a block south of Lawrence Ave).

A shot of the band. Despite having listened to them for most of the evening, I never got their names. Jake seemed to recognize them, and felt the guitarist (far left) was in another band that frequented Carol’s.
As an aside, I have to say that the band overall was very good, and you could tell they’d been playing together for a while. But the guitarist was just phenomenal. And while I admit to having consumed a good amount of beer, there were some solos later on in the evening that were just really fantastic. The man is good at what he does.

View of the bar, from behind our table.

Another view of the bar. The bar itself was like an island that cut the place in two. Our side held the tables and the music, but on the other side there were more chairs, and a small pool room in back.

After a few pitchers (and after some of Jake’s friends joined us), a few of us ducked out for a frisbee break. Apparently, there was a park across the way… and someone happened to have a frisbee on them.
I didn’t ask, I just tagged along.

Towards the end of the evening, a few more folks showed up.
Near our end, we met Dan and Tanya, who Liz and I chatted with. They promised to friend us on Facebook, and bought us shots of Jameson.
Liz and I ended up ducking out a bit early circa 1AM.
General note to myself (and anyone who thinks they might stay at Carol’s late): If you end up getting hungry after Carol’s closes, there’s still an hour left until San Soo Gab San closes at 5AM.

I see we’re not disclosing the post 1 am schinanigans. heh
I decided not to. But if you want to tell that story, feel free… :)Or, we could wait until someone else insisted we tell the story. I’ve kept my mouth shut about this all day today.
