As I was washing the dishes last night, Liz came into the kitchen, shut off the water, grabbed my hand and said “Let’s go.”
She had finished up her last homework assignment and sent it off to her teacher. Officially – she was done with school.
No more homework, no more finals, no more crazy cumulative exams. She’s officially DONE done (and her graduation ceremony is on Sunday).

Here we are at Lula’s. Though we’ve been on South Beach for a few weeks now, we’re breaking the diet to celebrate. And it didn’t matter too much that there was a 30+ minute wait because we got to have drinks.

Celebratory martinis: Liz got a French martini and I got a regular martini (which is just a fancy olive delivery mechanism, IMO).
On our walk over, Liz mentioned how she felt relieved that all the work was over. Though we’ve gone out the past few weeks, there was always “more work” to be done, and always a little bit of stress that she was working against looming deadlines. But tonight felt pretty good for her, as she didn’t really have anything else to worry about.
Come Sunday, with diploma in hand, she’ll officially have her master’s degree. Congratulations, Liz!

Congrats Liz!
CONGRATS LIZ!!! thats gotta feel damn good
Fantastic news! Enjoy the ceremony on Sunday!
Congrats Liz! I bet it feels wonderful to be officially done! P.S. My mother’s favorite drink is a French Martini.
Whoo hoo! Congratulations. You two have LOTS to celebrate this year. :)
Congratulations! That’s awesome! I’d be drinking some celebratory beverages as well!
Congratulations, Liz!!! Lula’s is a great celebratory place. What a banner year for you.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. It does feel really good to finish and not have homework every night. :)
