The Whirley-Pop Popcorn Popper

After finding a neat article on how to make movie theater popcorn, I decided that one of Liz’s birthday gifts would be the Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper.

I tracked down most of the necessary items. But while coconut oil wasn’t too hard, I didn’t end up getting my hands on any Flavocil. I even went so far as to call the local movie theater, asking them where I might purchase it. I went so far as to offer to buy some from them, but immediately got shot down.

Here are some pics of the popper in action. We ended up using a package that came with our order, which included all the oil, salt and flavoring. Popcorn popping has definitely never quite been as fun.

The Whirley-Pop – the cank on the handle turns a small rotating wire that keeps the popcorn kernels from staying in one place for too long.

Popcorn and oil added.

All done! The pre-mixed packages tasted pretty great, and had the lightness I tend to associate with movie theater popcorn. I’m excited to try out the specific ingredients at some future point though, just to see how the coconut oil and Flavocil mix fares.

Also – Justin sent along a recipe for Spicy Dill Popcorn, which looks a little daunting and interesting at the same time.

Super glad we have Netflix, as I see a lot of movies in our future!
