Posting From New Wave Coffee on my iPad

It’s a bit cumbersome, and I tend to have about 20 more typos per minute, buti’m writing this from my new iPad! I’m sitting at New Wave Coffee, sipping on a bottomless mug.

Honestly, I don’t know that I can see doing blog posts in this manner very often. The typing is tedious, and mine tends to be rife with mistakes (perhaps I’ll get better with time). I really miss my Quicksilver and TextExpander shortcuts. It feels (no exaggeration) like I’m wading through molasses, and able to work at 40% of my normal pace.

Still – the fact that I can do this at all is pretty fun! I used the built in camera to take a photo, adjusted it slightly with Adobe’s free Photoshop Express app and created a blog post using the WordPress app. Not too shabby.

Currently, I’m settling in to do a little work and it feels very good. I can’t tell you how often I’ve walked by New Wave in the mornings, on the way to work, wishing I could slip insides for a few hours to work on my own projects. And for most of this week… that’s exactly what I’ll be doing.

  1. I’ve been on an iPad for about a year; while I would never be without my desktop, it has more or less replaced my laptop. The MacBook was more firepower than I needed for what I did with it, and I prefer doing serious work on a desktop. I’m still probably at seventy percent on typing, which I can live with. Embrace autocorrect, Dropbox, and web dav. Buy Note Shelf. I love mine.
