Samsara: The Interconnected World and the Ever Turning Wheel of Life
Samsara, a Sanskrit word that translates to: “the ever turning wheel of life,” is the latest film from director Ron Fricke.
The trailer is jaw-droppingly beautiful. Make sure you’re watching this in HD, and make very sure you’re watching full-screen:
I’ve seen Samsara referred to as the sequel to Baraka – a film that I bought a long while ago, but never got around to watching. It’s been sitting in a drawer, unopened, and I’m now kicking myself as I have to wait for my PS3 to get returned, before I can actually view the thing. Serves me right for waiting so long.
Looking forward to this latest film, which comes out on the 24th. I may have to track it down here in Chicago, as it seems like it was meant to be watched on a really big screen.
PS: I have no idea what’s going on at 0:50, but it’s a haunting image. Wish I knew what the heck that was all about…

This reminds me of Koyaanisqatsi and the other 2 films in the qatsi trilogy.
juliet (August 17, 2012 at 12:33 am)I recognize those films, but can’t recall whether I’ve seen them or not. Thinking I need to buy those and watch them as well!
Curious if you were able to spell Koyaanisqatsi from memory, or if you had to look it up. I ask this having memorized how to spell Aimee’s last name (Nezhukumatathil) while in grad school.
avoision (August 17, 2012 at 9:59 am)Nezhukumatathil, yes. Koyaanisqatsi, no. (I did have to look it up.)
