Ian Rogers: Collective Noun Project
My friend Ian runs a pretty fantastic art blog that I think is well worth checking out.
While he posts about a wide range of things, focusing on a variety of artists… I wanted to draw particular attention to some of his recent work. Lately, he’s been doing a series of illustrations focusing on collective nouns.

I kind of vaguely knew about these nouns, but seeing the Wikipedia list kind of blew my mind. I know of a parliament of rooks and a murder of crows through The Sandman comics… but there are a ton that I’ve never heard of. It’s pretty fascinating to just look through these different words/pairings.
Ian is someone I know through Twelvestone (and before that, the now-defunct Flash Were-Here forums). I’ve had the good fortune to meet him in person, and he’s an incredibly smart and talented guy.
Looking over these illustrations, I’m imagining them as part of a book or event as prints. He should totally get a Kickstarter project going…

Thanks for the shout-out, Felix! Collective nouns are a weird and wonderful aspect of our language. I’m glad you like my interpretations.
