Sick Days

I’ve been sick for a few days now. Last Wednesday during the day, I felt crappy during the afternoon and was pretty convinced I had a fever by the time I went home at the end of the day. That was probably the worst of it, as the next day I felt improved… but could tell something was wrong.

Luckily for me, my workplace has been really great about letting me work from home. I have a laptop which I brought home with me, and our team mostly communicates through Skype anyhow… so it worked out. I ended up working from home both Thursday and Friday.

In the mornings, I wake up feeling mostly ok… but it seems to get progressively worse the longer I’m up. Lately, I’ve taken to a routine of hitting the DayQuil in the morning and finishing up with NyQuil at night. I don’t know if I experienced much difference it how I felt, honestly.

What sucks about this illness is that it’s not overt. I’m not bedridden and unable to move. I’m coughing a lot, and there’s a thin layer lining the back of my throat that I can’t seem to get rid of. It’s subtle, but I can definitely tell that there’s something wrong with me – that something’s off.

// Edit: It’s now Sunday, and I’ve been under the weather since Wednesday. Again, though I feel somewhat better (and my cough sounds like it’s improving) I don’t know that I’m totally improved. I’ve taken multiple naps today, and have gone to sleep so often that I’ve lost count.

I’m planning on returning to work on Monday, but I still can’t quite tell if I’m better or if the illness is still lingering around. Whatever this is, it’s totally annoying.
