Scare Wear, Pics

Alright. Yay for me, for heading out alone. Not like I really talked to anyone else there, save Mike and the girls… but still, good for me. I’m not one to dive into a new place alone, so this seems like a positive thing; that, or a strong indication of how much I care about Chelsea, Steph and Liz.

Cool show, despite the fact that I now reek of cigarette smoke. Funny how you notice this, only after smoking. I stink!

Seeing Chelsea wasn’t as bad as I thought. No visible other guy was in sight, so that made things a hell of a lot easier. I think the fear of seeing her around another guy made me jet as quickly as I did. Overall, it was good. She gave me a hug, and thanked me for coming out tonight. She looked really, really good.

Even now, almost half a year later, that voice in my head speaks up when she’s around. It’s the one that keeps whispering "Why not me? What was so terrible about me?" That voice gets quieter the more time that passes, but for right now… it’s still there. The good thing is I was able to squelch that voice for most of the night, and enjoyed the show.

Scare Wear was a cool idea, and I think I’d like to see how I could help for next’s year’s event.

The first "piece," a take on the twins from Stephen King’s The Shining.

Liz, Steph and Chelsea. Damn the lighting! Blurry photo unfortunately, but they had on awesome fucking outfits. Long dresses with these square frames at the bottom, heart necklaces that pulsated and were lit up… they were fucking stunning, all of them. Even moreso than usual. :)

I don’t remember what this one was about. She moved well, though.

Damn, I wish I had a better shot of this costume. This guy had one something like 6 inch heel-type boots. On stage, he resembled the kind of human-sized cockroach that would make Kafka shit his pants. Electric-eyes based on a football helmet made for a wonderful effect. Maybe I can try a derivation of this for my own costume. I’ve now got some ideas involving string lights and batteries… we’ll see how motivated I get.

About 3 or 4 years ago, I dressed up as Operation. The game, Operation. I got a big ass box, drew the patient’s body on the front, cut out some rectangular pieces of sheet metal, and wired everything up to a battery that I taped to the top. I stuck velcro on a pencil, a fork and a pack of cigarettes, and wired a pair of salad tongs to the battery. I also hooked up a doorbell buzzer, so that if the salad tongs touched the metal – the buzzer went off.

That costume rocked. I have yet to top it. :)

Love this shirt in the blacklight.

Nothing says party like a man-sized pinata, carrying a bottle of Maker’s Mark. A minute after this picture was taken, he reached into a pouch by his stomach and started pulling out candy… from his innards, and throwing them at the crowd.

Moments later, he was jumping around on the stage and fell off. Damn drunk pinatas.

Liz, Steph and Chelsea, on their second round on stage. Dressed as Halloween cliches.

Not sure what this one was called, but it was awesome. Both of them moved with ease and fluidity – I bet they’re dancers. More than any other "piece" to take the stage, they were comfortable and seemed to move naturally.

Sidenote: The MC (the Devil) was playing guitar and singing, while they danced.

Chelsea, Liz and Steph, shortly after the show’s conclusion.

Beautiful, scary girl.

The devil obliges me a photograph. He looked much more ominous without the flash, and with the red backlighting. But every other pic I took was blurry. He was a good MC, funny as hell. Sorry.

A shot of The Hideout, exterior. It was slightly tricky to find, and tucked away in an industrial-ish area. But I got warm feelings throughout the entire place – very, very friendly and fun. Not pretentious in the slightest. I definitely plan on going back soon.
