Drinks At The Barro

I met up with MaryAnn after work, outside the Siskel. We decided to meet there, and then just wander around until movie time. She had remembered a nearby Mexican place called Barro, and so we ducked in there (very wet and soggy from the rain) and settled down to a nice, spicy meal.

Our converastion ranged from old school friends, our jobs, buying houses and stocks. A bit all over the map, but very fun. We split a pitcher of margueritas and, at the height of things, I had to cut short my drinking because I started getting that splotchy thing.

Here’s a very unsteady, blurry shot of the restaurant. I ducked back in after we stepped outside.

And this is something I loved. On my way out, I grabbed some mints from a big bowl. I popped it into my mouth, and instead of peppermint… I was surprised to taste chocolate. They were, in fact, really great chocolate mints and so I turned around and grabbed a handful. Once MaryAnn realized what they were, she too went back and grabbed some more.

Over dinner, I managed to talk us out of going to see a film at the Siskel, and instead decided we should go see Matrix Reloaded. We made our way to AMC, went inside, and then found out it wasn’t playing there. After some searching, we located a nearby hotel… found a bathroom, wandered in and out of some meeting areas, and finally tracked down a payphone. A few calls later, we were on our way toward an 8:50 PM showing.
