Another day today, slept until noonish. I’m not sure if it’s still my body trying to get caught up, or what. On Friday evening, I was up until about 3:00 AM, doing updates on the blog. It seems that my body is prone to slipping into nocturnal mode (at least recently). Hopefully, I’m caught up now on sleep. Today was…

Being one of his favorite haunts, Phil had his birthday this year at Cesar’s. Last year, I went to his party at Diversy Bowl (and regret not taking pictures). Cesar’s has long been a favorite of Q101 folk, and this evening was no exception. I snapped a few pics right when I arrived. Almost everyone knows… if you’re at Cesar’s,…

Last night, I was up until about 3 AM. I was more or less in this work mode, and I lost track of time. Today, I slept until about 1:30 PM. As much as I would like to return to a somewhat decent schedule, it seems like I’m slipping back into this late-night-work mode.

I got some great gifts – Felix the Cat cards, as well as a couple of cool, trendy magnets. I can never really have too much Felix the Cat memorabilia. :) The dessert menu got passed around, and I ended up going with the “Choco Loco.” I pronounced it Choke-Oh Loco, but Anthony insisted on calling it the Chock-Oh Loco….

For an appetizer, we had…. this stuff. I forget what this is called, but it’s soybeans (slightly steamed) and coated in salt. // They’re called edamame. Thanks, Jerkstore. :) I had never had these before, and to my surprise they were quite good. The entire meal, everything felt really slow. But this struck me as intentional, since there really didn’t…

We all got to go out for lunch today, partly as a birthday celebration for me, and partly (sadly) a going-away party for Jill – who’s going off to bigger and better things in New York. I had never been here before and, let me state for the record… swanky. This is one of those places I doubt I’ll return…

Matt went and got himself yet another publication. And who might that be near the top there? Billy Collins, the current poet laureate? Nice work, Z. You fucking rock star!

I ran into Rocky today, while getting coffee at Artisan. Rocky and I met last July, outside the Mart in front of a bar called “Shamrock.” I had the honor of sitting in a fancy $1,000 chair, and ended up giving him the blog address. As it turns out, he’s been following along and has become a regular reader. Yet…

It took me almost a year before I actually met her in person. But here she is: I spotted her just sitting in her nest. She made no motion when I stopped on the stairs, and even when my flash went off… she continued staring at me. There was no alarm, just a very calm, steadied “Are you lookin’ at…

I was working on some pictures to post on here (roughly around 8:30 PM). But I got tired. Headed over to the couch and, lo and behold, it’s now 12:30 AM. I thought I was back to a somewhat regular pattern, but I guess I’ve been proven wrong. Sorry – nothing today. *yawn Back to sleep then.

I had a blast tonight. I got to eat dinner with my family, some long-lost relatives, and my friends. Afterwards, on the way to Justin’s, I discovered a series of gifts (balloons and notes) marking the path. I had not one, but two cakes. And a crapload of gifts. And a ton of drinks at Rainbo. Let me tease you…

I’m not sure if the credit for this should go to eccesignum or sKtd_ne, so to play it safe I’m mentioning both. Good god, the more I explore his site, the more awed I become. If anything, make sure to check out the Portfolio section. Ahhhh, damn. This work makes me think immediately of Jared Tarbell. And now? I’m drooling…
