Cloud Formations and Recognition
I saw this walking today, heading over to Kent’s house. The cloud formation was sort of checkered, and I wondered what that meant. I wasn’t sure what weather conditions caused this type of formation. I also didn’t know what it meant, if anything, about the weather we were going to get.
A thought that popped into my head was that, over my lifetime so far, I’ve seen a lot of skies. A lot of weather. And a lot of clouds. Why is it that I’m still uncertain what cloud formations portend? I recall hearing these legends of people who can smell rain or who know, somehow, that a storm is coming.
I feel like we should know stuff like this, or at least have a better feel for the weather. Seeing those clouds today, and not knowing what weather it foretold… that sort of made me feel unobservant. That over the course of my life, I’m not paying enough attention. That, or I’m simply not outside enough.
I think this formation is called Altocumulus.
