Found Magazine @ Intuit Gallery

Attended a Found Magazine show at Intuit Gallery. I didn’t get to really attend their last show (Dirty Found), so it’s been a long while since I’ve seen aFound event.

Great stuff stuff tonight, as you’ll soon see. Justin invited me to help set up the place a few nights ago, but I declined. In hindsight, I would have been a blast to help set up this show/space.

Right after I took this picture, I was about to head in when three women on the sidewalk stopped me. They asked if this was “free” and if they could come inside. I encouraged them all to enter, and described what Found was all about. It was cool to see them stumble across the show, in almost the same way that all the objects on the walls were stumbled upon by their finders. I lost track of them after a few minutes, but I hope they stuck around for the reading portion, and I hope they had fun.

Here’s an interior shot of the space. After about 30 minutes, the place got packed.

Found objects. Note the great George Michael love letter in the top corner.

It was a bit tough navigating through the items, as eveyone was looking/reading at their own pace. That, and there was just an awful lot to read. Some items worked really well tacked onto the wall, others would have been a bit better served on the page (and a bit more legible there too).

The whole time I was looking over things, I’d hear people murmur “oh my god” or break out into uncontrollable laughter. It was great. I did this myself on several occasions.

And now… before you get too mad at me for not taking enough detail photos, keep reading and scrolling down. There’s more below.

At 7PM, there was a show slated in the adjoining room. Justin, Chris and I grabbed some seats early, and hung out a while as the place filled up. They were playing Appetite for Destruction over the PA, and I gotta tell you… I all but had to sit on my hands to keep from playing air guitar. It’s like it’s in the blood or something with that album.

Podium view. And just to set things up here… Davy is wearing a costume that a friend found (and made him wear for New Year’s).
