What All This Cleaning Is About
I haven’t mentioned this, despite the fact that it’s a pretty huge and tremendous thing that’s going to happen this week. A few months back, the company I work for (Emmis), recently acquired a second radio station here in Chicago.
They own Q101, and the other station they got was The Loop. After a lot of planning and discussion, they’re going to be combining both offices, and relocating everyone inside the Q101 office space.
Which means some serious space needs to be created.
Which means some heavy duty renovation is happening.
This week.
Thursday.
And they’re starting with our department.
So come Wednesday, we’re packing everything up into crates. As of this Thursday, I’ll be working from home. For two solid months!
Yeah, I know! It’s crazy, and exciting and… pretty crazy. I’m looking forward to it a great deal, as my commute will be all of about 15 steps. And I keep joking to everyone that I’m going to see if I can set some sort of record for “days without wearing pants.”
So far, my personal best has only been 24 hours.
Seriously though – this is going to be a lot of fun. A lot of us have been talking about using this work-at-home thing to our advantage, and trying to lose some weight. I helped Justin move a treadmill into his apartment yesterday, and I’m looking to put in a weight bench in the office (hence all the moving and re-arranging).
I’ve gained a tremendous amount of weight in the past year. And given how many hours I spent sitting in front of a computer screen… I could stand to shed some weight. So here’s hoping that I can utilize this extra time I’ll gain by losing a few pounds.
