Sneaking in to Midway Games: DENIED!

During lunch, Chris noted that there was a Midway Games office, right across the street. Well, we decided not to let an opportunity like this just go by, so we swung on over afterwards, to see if we could get a tour of the place.

Round the corner, we spy a few cabinets against the window, seemingly taunting us.
Once inside, we’re immediately in a smallish waiting area, with one receptionist behind a glass window. When we ask if there are tours, she picks up on the fact that we totally don’t belong there (mistake Number 1). We should have announced ourselves as testers, and then asked where the vending machines were.
On talking briefly with the receptionist (who Chris would later refer to as “soft”), we found out that this particular branch of Midway is an R&D lab. Behind the locked doors, they were creating games that the public hasn’t seen yet. “Just,” according to the receptionist, “a bunch of guys and a bunch of computer screens.”
After a brief pause wherein both Chris and I contemplate rushing the window and overpowering her, we decide to retreat. Outside, we walk back to the car – defeated, but undeterred.
We’ll be back. We’ve already cased the joint. Next time, it’s a clipboard and a confident wave.
