Book Reviews

I’m totally digging the books I purchased recently. I’ve flipped through a few more of John Brehm’s poems, read a bit more of Michael Ryan’s work, found some excellent poems in William Matthews’ collection, and got through a few pages of Ted Kooser’s The Poetry Home Repair Manual.

So far, I’m completely taken with Kooser’s thoughts on poetry. I’m only a few pages into it and already he’s saying things I’ve been thinking, only much much better. I have yet to come across another contemporary writer who so accurately defines poetry in the way that I define it for myself – this is a blast to read. If it’s any indication, I’m really tempted to type out about 2-3 pages of text onto this blog, just so I can share it with you. It’s that good.
