Congratulations, Phil and Anthony

Today, we had our divisional quarterly conference call. Among the many topics we hit, we also named the recipients of our 31 Lengths Award. For those of you who don’t work for Emmis, let me explain this award a bit.

In 1973, Secretariat won at the Belmont by an unprecedented margin; 31 lengths separated Secretariat from the nearest challenger. There is a great photograph out there that shows the jockey, looking over his shoulder in disbelief at how far everyone else is.

In that spirit, our award goes to the individual that goes above and beyond, that goes that extra mile. We’ve got our own internal criteria, but suffice it to say that this award goes to someone who deserves recognition for all the work that they do.

Today, Phil and Anthony were the dual recipients, for all the work they’ve done with the Q101 website. And did I mention that the award happens once every quarter, and includes a monetary prize of $1,000? This isn’t just some plaque and a handshake – this is some serious stuff.

Big congrats to Phil and Anthony – who both received a copy of the award, and who will receive $1,000 each in recognition for all their work.
