Beechwood
After dinner, we all parted ways with plans to meet up with Dave and his sister at Beechwood later on. I decompressed at home a bit, then headed out down the street to Beechwood (which, is on the corner of Beech and Wood, of course).
I got there a bit early (10 PM), and so ended up killing some time just shooting pool by myself. I wasn’t on fire or anything, but doing well enough. After a bit, Will showed up and we played a few games together.
There’s a old, old Simpsons pinball machine at this place, and it sucked two dollars out of us like lightning. I swear, I’m fairly good at pinball… and this game just kicked our asses. Luckily, we matched at lot, and I even hit replay towards the end. But man – what a fickle game. The ball would be out for all of 5 seconds, and then just drop straight down. And this was one of those old-school pinball games, where you didn’t get a second chance… even if you were only alive for like 5 seconds.
Tonight was apparently game night for us. Dave’s sister, Julie, was visiting (wow – she’s someone I haven’t seen in like almost 3 years). Her friend Kelly was along as well, and the two of them got into a game of Connect Four. Soon after this, Julie and Will got into a heated match of “Battleship.”
The stalemate between Justin and Kent.
Rob, Kent and I ended up shooting a lot of pool and playing a lot of pinball. Like I said – game night, all around. Got to talk to Julie a bit more, and found out more about her work in NY. Talked to her friend Kelly briefly, and discussed her possible move/transfer out to Philly.
Hung out with everyone until about 12:30 AM or so, and called it a night then. The girls were talking of heading to Neo’s, but all of us working stiffs bowed out.
Earlier today, I imagined a fairly quiet, laid-back evening of poker. Little did I know I’d be out and about as much as I was.
