Helping Holly Move

Headed over to Holly’s place this morning, a little after 8:30 AM. I met up with her roommate Art, and we proceeded to chat a little while. As we waited for Holly to get back with the truck, I took a quick peek around the apartment, and snapped a few shots.

This one is of the main window in the living room. Great, great view. I was really taken by this apartment when I saw it, awe by both the size and some of the woodwork inside.

Case in point. Lookit those shelves! Ahhhh man, I love those shelves. When I have my own place, I need to get shelves like that.

Before shot.

After shot.

I didn’t recognize the brand, but I just dug this old poster, next to the door.

Holly’s friend Mark and I took care of packing up the truck, as Art, Holly, and her friend Karen took care of the unpacked items. Mark and I hit it off very well, and our topics of conversation ranged from nature documentaries to Star Trek.

At one point in the kitchen, we both looked up and spotted these old-school Burger King Star Wars glasses. We were both like “Ooooooh.” It was a classic nerd moment. Like I said – Mark and I got along very well.

Mark, making sure everything’s secured down. He was the one who did a lot of the arranging on the truck. I’m fairly certain he’s played a good deal of Tetris. He was able to keep a portion of the truck open so that we had room for the armoir and recliner we needed to pick up, at Holly’s dad’s house.

About to make the trek out to the suburbs.

Fast forward a bit. We’ve moved out the armoir and recliner, packing both securely on the truck. Out in the driveway, we take a bit of a break, sipping on some soda while chatting with Holly’s dad.

Eaerlier, as a gift, her dad gave both Mark and I a few plastic corks. And it turns out he invented these guys! Stick them in wine bottles, and they block out any excess pieces of cork from going into your glass. It’s also something you can seal back up and re-use, over and over again.

It’s called Haley’s Corker. How cool is that?

At Holly’s new place. I walked around a bit, and snapped a few shots. On walking in, it’s no wonder she was looking to move. This place was fantastic. TONS of space, a great sunroom area out front, and it came with heat included. Both Mark and I were like “How much is rent? And you said there are other apartments available?”

More awesome shelves! One of these days…. one of these days…

A nice little welcome sign, along with some candles and a fresh 9-volt for the smoke detector.

Since Holly had a breadbox, I figured it a prudent thing to photograph… for future reference.

The last boxe moved, Holly rearranges a light and contenplates the unpacking process.

It was a little after 8PM when we finished, and the three of us settled in the kitchen for a while, sipping on beer and water. We talked about Holly’s plans for the apartment, and how much we all liked the new digs. After a full day of moving, it felt good to be stationary, to just hang out, relax, and talk some.
