Grillable Dessert: Blueberry Crumble
In addition to grilling out for dinner tonight (Porterhouse steaks), Liz and I made Blueberry Crumble (a la the recipe from Steven Raichlen’s BBQ University.
I made this once before, a long while ago for a Fourth of July cookout… way back in 2005. Can’t believe I’ve waited 3 years to try this recipe again, as it’s friggin’ delicious.
In the pic above, all the ingredients are ready to pulse, and to create the crumble.
Blueberries, tossed with the sugar, flour, lemon zest and lemon juice.
Liz, spreading on the crumble over the blueberries.
A quick 30-40 minutes later, it’s ready to eat! The thing I love about this recipe is how easy it is to make, and how well it seems to time out. Once all the main grilling is done for your meal, the crumble sits on the grill (indirect grilling) for 30-40 minutes.
Overall, that’s a long time. But it times out well to where people are usually finishing up eating. By the time they’ve had some food and it’s settled… dessert’s all ready to go.
And just for the record: vanilla ice cream is a must.
