Goodbye, Matt Miner

After two years working with us, we’re saying goodbye to Matt Miner. Matt’s case is a special one: though he’s been with us a long while, he was originally brought on as a temporary hire (via another company, Sogeti).

He was, for all intents and purposes, brought on at the start as a hired gun. But he soon proved himself to be so much more than that. While I never worked a lot with Matt directly on the Dev side of things, I know that his contributions to our company have been tremendous.

While most folks who are brought in as outsiders could have simply asked for a list of work and gone about their 9-5 day… Matt was someone who stepped up. He brought ideas to the table, and put himself into the work he did for us. I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that he’s greatly influenced this company, and that we were incredibly lucky to have had Matt’s energy and enthusiasm for as long as we did.

Unfortunately, given our arrangement with Sogeti, we and Matt have to part ways. But to show our appreciation to Matt, a bunch of us got together at a nearby bar and raised a few glasses.

L to R it’s Chris, Kashif and Matt.

L to R it’s Rey, Walt, Allison and Jane. I didn’t get photos of Roshan, Justin, Matt B and Renata, who also came to hang out.

Kashif and Matt, laughing and listening to Ben’s awesome farewell speech.

A list of those who participated in the shot.

And finally, Ben wrote a special farewell song for Matt. Which I have to say was pretty awesome (and the refrain is pretty damn catchy).

Goodbye Matt, and good luck! Here’s to a year, and to seeing you soon.
