That Ambulance Driver is Going Crazy

Yesterday morning, as I was working on the computer I heard an ambulance slowly circle the block. The alarm came on and stayed on for a while, and then it just went away. A minute or so would go by, and the alarm would go off again.

It sounded like the ambulance driver had gone crazy, turning the thing on and off like that. It was hard to pinpoint where it was coming from, but it was loud enough that it woke Liz up, and I’m sure it woke up several other folks on my block.

For about five minutes, it kept turning on and off like an air raid siren.

About an hour later, as we were walking to the Blue Line… we spotted the culprit. It wasn’t an ambulance, but a car alarm if you can believe that. The thing was about a block away, but even at that distance it was incredibly loud. If I actually lived near where this car was parked, I’d have been pissed. There’s no way a car’s alarm needs to be this obnoxiously loud.

I took a bit of video from across the street. It wasn’t clear to me what was going on, but it looks like the owner was trying to disable the thing and drive away. That, or a disgruntled neighbor got fed up, broke into the car, and was going to dispose of it.
