Lanyards
While browsing around on MetaFilter, I happened across a post about lanyards. If you’ve ever gone to summer camp, you likely recognize the name.
I was reminded of Billy Collins’ poem, The Lanyard, and was delighted to find a clip of him reading the poem on YouTube (I actually mentioned this poem before, but at the time all that was available was an audio clip).
For those of you who know my tastes in poetry, I’m a huge Billy Collins fan, and find him to be an incredibly accessible poet. I like sharing his work with people who aren’t into poetry, just because his stuff is so approachable (and incredibly funny).
The video starts off a little slowly (poem begins at 0:50), but there’s a fantastic turn at 2:00. Stick with this – it’s worth it.
