The Awesome Foundation: Providing $1,000 for Your Awesome Ideas
The Awesome Foundation provides grants to individuals for ideas that they think are… well… awesome. No strings attached, no requirements. You tell them your awesome idea, and they give you $1,000 to make it happen. The types of projects that qualify as awesome? It’s pretty open to interpretation:
Awesome projects are not strictly defined, but tend to challenge and expand our understanding of our individual and communal potentials. They bring communities together, casting aside social inhibitions and boundaries for a moment. They spark an instant of joy and delight and inspire a long-term hope for a more awesome future.
There are numerous chapters of the foundation, all over the US. Comprised of 10 trustees, each participant agrees to commit $100 every month to form the $1,000 grant. A Chicagp Chapter recently opened last week, and they’re currently accepting submissions for May.

So if I succeed with a 1000 ideas, i’ll get 1000 x 1000$ ? ;-)
Jesper Lindgren (October 20, 2011 at 3:11 am)I don’t think there are 1,000 different foundations… yet. But yes! I know that city-specific foundations aren’t required to select proposals that only come from their city… but they tend to lean that way. But if you wanted to apply to multiple cities… there’s nothing stopping you.
In all seriousness, I highly encourage you to submit at least one proposal. I think the idea and intent behind the Awesome Foundation is a great one, and if nothing else… it gets applicants thinking about the world in a new way.
Let me know what you end up proposing!
