Optimist: Festival of Color, Slow Motion Video

Optimist is a lovely slow-motion video by Brian Thomson, capturing the Festival of Color celebration at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah.

There are so many lovely moments to this video – the initial few bursts of color, followed by the entire crowd. There’s the kid breaking into a smile at 3:03. This video captures so much sheer joy, it’s impossible not to smile while watching it. I even loved the title mask at the very end of the video.

Every once in a while, I see something online that just makes me feel really good. It makes me remember how much I love the world, and all the people in it. Too often, I focus solely on the things in front of me – the petty, day-to-day concerns that make me lose sight of the sheer wonder around me.

And then a video like this reminds me how lucky we are to be here, to be alive and to be thankful for that gift. I’m awed at how much sheer joy can come from something as simple and as beautiful as colored powder.

// Edit: The music is by Zoë Keating. I’ve re-watched this video so many times, I may have to pick up this album…
