NYC Intersection: Video of Pedestrians, Cyclists and Cars

3-Way Street is a short video by Ron Gabriel, highlighting the oftentimes dangerous interactions between pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. There’s a lot of bad behavior all around: cyclists running red lights and going the wrong way down streets, pedestrians jaywalking and ignoring oncoming traffic, and cars… well, cars doing what they normally do in NYC.

Created as part of Ron’s master’s thesis, he focused on a single intersection as a case study. The way in which he highlights and tracks various bicycles, pedestrians and cars is more than a little mesmerizing. Hard not to think of the classic YouTube video featuring an intersection in India.

For those interested, there’s a fairly spirited series of comments on the original MeFi thread.
