Goodbye, Brian

Last night, a few of us met up at Villain’s after work to meet up with Brian, and to wish him a fond farewell. He’s due to start a new life abroad, and will be attending the International Journalism MA program at City University London. On top of that, he’ll also be working on his Kickstarter-funded book, London and a Year.

Prior to the party, Utopia created a lovely little tribute to Brian that will serve as a reminder for us here in the office. It’s a small plane, chock full of his favorite things – bananas, hummus, tea.

As a reminder, if we ever get to missing him here in the office… we can just look to this miniature message.

At Villain’s, we met up with Paul. He was showing folks the new attachment he got for his iPhone (which was also a Kickstarter project) – the olloclip.

A quick example of the fisheye lens. Probably not the best shot in the world, but it gives you a sense of what it does.

L to R it’s Tim, Rick and Chris.

Brian brought with him his copy of Settlers of Catan. I think this was so that one of us could keep it safe, while he’s away. A few of us were talking about how much we enjoyed this game, and I think now that Kickball season is over… we might have a few folks interested in a pickup game.

L to R it’s Brian and me. I can’t recall what we were talking about, but I think Brian was trying to drive home a point. It’s also possible he was subconsciously missing our company RPS battles.

L to R it’s Al, Laurence, Brian, Ben, Alexandra and Jose.

Good luck to you Brian. In a few days, you’ll be headed out the door and setting foot onto a plane that will take you into a new country, a new life. There are an incredible number of new experiences and adventures ahead, and like the others who know you… we’re incredibly excited for you.

You were a born traveler, if ever there was one my friend. Good luck, and we’ll be looking forward to new photos and dispatches.
